Maasai plains to the Usambara

Day 1
Arrive in Mombo between 11 AM and 12 PM. After lunch, drive through small rice fields as you make your way towards the Kisseri family’s Maasai boma. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a small celebration.
Various activities will be available, and you can choose to participate based on your interest and curiosity. As the day concludes and daily tasks are completed, the evening gathering will begin with spear throwing, drinking of blood (for the brave), and dancing, all while awaiting your meal.

Day 2

Begin your day by participating in milking the cows or engaging in other small daily activities. After saying goodbye to the family, drive up the Usambara Mountains. Along the way, guests without medical conditions will be dropped off to start a beautiful but strenuous hike to the tallest waterfall in the area. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the waterfall.

Following the hike, you will proceed by car to visit the old German printing press, Vuga Press, where you will see various machines used to print books. You will spend the night at Lawns Hotel in Lushoto.

Note: Guests unable to join the waterfall hike can instead participate in a wine tour at the Sakarani Fathers. During this tour, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the winery and enjoy a wine tasting. Please be aware that you must choose between the waterfall hike and the wine tour, as it is not possible to do both activities simultaneously.

Day 3

Start walking from Lawns hotel though town for a Historical tour of Lushoto while making you way to Magamba rainforest where you will see the different species of fauna, inspect the German cave used during the war and have packed lunch at Magamba peak, thereafter make your way back to your hotel where you will have the opportunity to rest. Drive or hike to Irente view point for Sunset with a small apperitivo finishing the day at you hotel for dinner.
